Met skipper Tim Wadlow as kids on the Surf Riders swim team in New Jersey. Tim moved to San Diego when he was 10, but the friends stayed in touch and became reacquainted as college rivals as Peter helped form the sailing team at Boston College and Tim sailed for Boston University. The rivals became a team in 2000 to pursue the Olympics.
“My high school track coach, Jerry Beaver, was the first athletic coach I had that pushed me to physical and mental limits. He taught me self-discipline and stressed the importance of hard work. Other coaches have taught me more about sailing, but Coach Beaver taught me how to train to be the best at whatever I do. I will never forget those lessons.”
